About TICH

An International Community-Based Health, Development, Research And Training Institution, Bringing Together Academicians, Professionals And Practitioners To Share Their Expertise And Experience In Developing Leaders, Managers, And Professionals In Community Health. Tich Also Provides Sound Research Evidence Base For Policy Development And Facilitates Sustainable Community-Based Programs.Our Main Objective Is To Build Solidarity With Disadvantaged Communities. Tich Trains And Equips Effective Managers Of Community Health And Development Initiatives While Touching The Lives Of Our Partners In Disadvantaged Communities.

The Tropical Institute of Community Health and Development (TICH) in Africa is a voluntary agency registered in the Republic of Kenya as an International Community Based Health, Development, Research and Training Institution, inaugurated on 3rd May 1998. TICH brings together academicians, professionals and practitioners in community health and development to share their expertise in developing leaders in community health; to provide sound training in research for policy development; and to facilitate sustainable community-based programs.

TICH is committed to its vision of being a centre of academic, professional, and technical excellence in community-based health and development. Since its inception, TICH has experienced consolidation and rapid growth. Our main objective is to build solidarity with disadvantaged communities. TICH trains and equips effective managers of community health and development initiatives while touching the lives of our partners in disadvantaged communities.

TICH promotes a unique training package responding to the need for highly skilled and practical human capital and answering the practical needs, priorities and experiences of community partners. In this way, TICH is steadily re-engineering social, economic and human development by creating linkages between academic and community-based development processes based solely on the actual needs, priorities, and aspirations of the community's people.

TICH exists to build on and strengthen the potentials, actions and capacities of individuals, families, communities and institutions to develop sustainable, concerned and effective leadership and programs. TICH, as an international center of academic, professional and technical excellence, provides support and facilitation in community health and development in Africa , bridging academic training with practical community and institutional development through the partnership approach. TICH aims to build a caring society in which individuals, families and communities are equipped with the necessary capacity to enjoy essential elements of dignified living.
